WeRoam contracts with Orange UK for global WLAN roaming

(press1) - WeRoam, the Swiss based wholesale WLAN broker, has signed a roaming agreement with Orange UK to extend its Business Everywhere mobility offering with broadband WLAN access.
Orange selected the WeRoam open roaming platform as the most flexible solution that could integrate WLAN with their current GPRS and 3G mobile data services.

Using a WLAN hotspot is easy and simple for all Orange UK customers. The subscriber sends an SMS to a short code and receives a one time username and password. The data are entered on the login page of the public hotspot to gain access to the Internet. The resulting communication costs appear on the subscriber's monthly bill.

Key WeRoam hotspot network partners for Orange UK include Surf & Sip in the UK, Ganag in Germany and Wayport in the USA. These networks offer nationwide WLAN coverage across premium hotel locations and coffee shops.

"WeRoam's global hotspot coverage complements the Orange 3G and GPRS network, giving business people the flexibility to use the best available technology to work remotely from more locations," said Alastair MacLeod, Vice President, Orange Business Solutions, UK.

Toni Stadelmann, CEO, WeRoam added: "The signal sent out with Orange's service launch is obvious, the real benefit for mobile data products is found in the bundling of wireless access technologies. WeRoam's motivation to follow the path of multi standard solutions for WLAN roaming has further grown with the new partnership."
